At Center for ActiveWV, we’re always excited to share opportunities that help kids build healthy habits early in life. One great way communities across the state are doing that is through Active Southern West Virginia’s Kids Run Club program.

Active SWV is currently accepting applications for the Spring 2026 Kids Run Club Mini-Grant, which helps schools and community groups start or continue a Kids Run Club this spring. The program is a free, volunteer-led initiative designed to help youth develop confidence, learn about healthy lifestyles, and discover the joy of physical activity.

Kids Run Clubs typically run for 6–8 weeks and end with a celebratory Fun Run. The program is open to all students, regardless of experience or fitness level, making it an inclusive way to get kids moving and engaged.

Organizations selected for the mini-grant will receive a starter package that includes:

  • Online Kids Run Club coach training for volunteers

  • Program curriculum manuals mailed to coaches

  • End-of-season medals for participants

  • Technical support from Active SWV staff

  • $300 in funding for exercise equipment or other healthy supplies

Running is one of the most accessible forms of exercise, and programs like Kids Run Club help children build confidence, teamwork skills, and lifelong healthy habits.

Schools and community groups across West Virginia are encouraged to apply before the March 25, 2026 deadline.
