Student-Athlete Leadership Summit Coming to WVU This May
The Center for ActiveWV is co-sponsoring the 2026 Coach Don Nehlen High School Student-Athlete Leadership Summit, an opportunity for rising 9th–12th grade student-athletes in Monongalia County to build leadership skills that carry beyond the game. The half-day summit will take place Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the WVU Applied Human Sciences Building.
Students will take part in hands-on workshops with the Positive Coaching Alliance and connect with WVU School of Sport Sciences faculty, staff, and students. The focus is on practical skills like leadership, resilience, and building strong team culture—things that show up not just in sports, but in school, work, and everyday life.
The summit is hosted by the WVU School of Sport Sciences, the Russell “Bud” Bolton Center for Sport Ethics and Leadership, and the Center for ActiveWV, in partnership with Monongalia County Schools and the Positive Coaching Alliance.
Students are encouraged to apply early. The priority application date is May 1, 2026, and space is limited with rolling acceptance.
