Acquired new table tennis tables to include a demographic of students that were less likely to be involved in traditional sports during PE.
New gear has transformed PE for Pikeview Middle School. Pikeview was intent on finding a way to include everyone, not just athletes, in activities and make PE a positive experience for everyone. The most significant addition to address this issue was new table tennis tables. This new equipment prioritized variety and inclusivity, students that were previously uncomfortable are now able to excel. Often, PE includes time spent waiting for a turn which results in boredom and off task behavior – not with table tennis. Playing doubles has also encouraged communication and increased student’s ability to work as a team. These new tables have allowed Pikeview to include all students and has increased their student participation rate in PE.
