Project Outcomes

Health for All

If they did not have a step counter, then a pedometer was supplied to those that wanted to participate, but didn't have a device. Any staff member was invited to participate in this challenge.

System Changes

The addition of this walking contest helped to offset the holiday festivities with a step challenge.

The Bottom Line

Walking Through the Holidays

This walking contest was called “Walking through the Holidays” and staff joined for fun or for weekly incentive. An overall shoe trophy was
given to the top walker and staff were given shoe keychains if they were the top stepper of the week. Straley Elementary, Mercer County Central Office, and Princeton Middle School staff participated. It went very well. 44 staff members walked a total of 12,156,243 steps! That’s roughly 6,078 miles. That is equivalent to walking across America from coast to coast and back!
