Be Healthy Project: HE White Elementary School Walking Trail

This is flowers on a walking trail.

At Be Healthy WV, our goal is to help communities in West Virginia with the resources they need to live healthier lifestyles. One of our more recent projects took us to the town of Clendenin in Clay County.

The HE White Elementary School Walking Trail is on the grounds of HE White Elementary School. The trail is a mile round-trip and is open for the community to use at any time. Before we decided to refurbish it, the trail was known as the OK Wilfong Nature Fitness Trail. We added new stairs, handrails, and benches for sitting. The updated trail is perfect for family hikes, short jogs, and walks with man’s best friend (just make sure to clean up any presents they may leave behind!).

Because Clay County is a mostly rural county, it’s important for the community to have areas that are designated specifically for fitness and outdoor recreation. Our hope is that this trail is used every day by members of the community as a way to enjoy nature and live a healthier lifestyle!
