Be ActiveWV and the Center for ActiveWV at West Virginia University recently awarded three Mercer County schools with $10,000 grants to support physical activity initiatives through the Healthy Schools in Action Project.
A total of nine schools submitted proposals for the 2026 Be ActiveWV Grant Program. After review, three schools were selected to receive funding to help expand opportunities for students to be active throughout the school day and beyond.
Congratulations to:
- Oakvale Elementary School – $10,000
- Mountain Valley Elementary School – $10,000
- Montcalm High School – $10,000
The grant funding will be used to develop walking trails designated as Mountaineer Miles, creating new opportunities for students to build healthy habits and stay active.
Be ActiveWV is proud to partner with schools across the state to support student wellness and encourage lifelong physical activity.
